Commence School
During Term 2, we hold an Information Evening where families, who have students commencing school in the next school year, can learn relevant details about the Prep program and the school in general. During this Information Evening you can take a tour of the school and be informed about the enrolment and transition processes, our student management system, uniforms and our After School Care program amongst other things.
Important things to be aware of:
Our school zone
Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au.
Students residing in this zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.
The Department provides guidance through the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and the freedom to choose other schools, subject to facility limitations.
You can find more information and answers to frequently asked questions on the Department’s website under School zones.
Typically, we hold three orientation sessions, one in Term 3 and two in Term 4, where students come to the school and participate in a 2 hour lesson. This helps students settle in and feel more comfortable when starting school. In the final transition session your child will be buddied up with a senior student who will also help them through the transition process.
This orientation program allows parents (who are new to the school environment) to get to know ‘how schools operate’. We encourage our new families to contact the office at any time if they have any questions.
Enrolling a child in Prep is an important choice. To support your decision making, the Education Department has launched a new website to help you locate your local school, and provide relevant guidelines and 'Frequently Asked Questions' related to enrolling in public schools across the Victorian public school system.
Enrolment forms can be collected from the school office.
