Restorative Practices – The Heart of The Lake PS Culture

Overview
The Real Schools Restorative 2.0 approach at The Lake PS (in partnership with Real Schools since 2024), is a proactive and inclusive framework designed to foster a positive culture promoting student accountability to ‘clean up their own mess’. At the heart of conflict resolution, is the P3P3F3 process enabling all students to voice ‘what happened?’, ‘how does it make you feel?’ & ‘what commitment will you make so this behaviour doesn’t happen again?’. By focusing on the impact of the behaviour rather than just making blame, affective language cultivates empathy and understanding, paving the way to restore relationships.
Student/Staff-Teacher Relationships
RP2.0 also strengthens teacher/staff-student relationships in the learning environment whereby learning can deepen as a result of healthy and robust relationships. By focussing on the present and future using affective language, a growth mindset and consistent conduct, it equips students with the skills to be accountable and independent which are essential skills for strong and resilient adults.
Parents as Partners
At The Lake PS, parent engagement and communication are a high priority. By providing families with the necessary tools and knowledge, our aim is to create a collaborative and supportive culture so that every student’s learning journey is supported by school and home.
